A plane has been evacuated with City preparing to fly out to Romania for their Champions League qualifier first-leg against Steaua Bucharest.
An aeroplane carrying Manchester City staff has been evacuated after smoke filled the cabin as it stood on the runway.
The flight containing 49 passengers including former City player now ambassador Mike Summerbee, was evacuated just after 11am at Manchester Airport.
Smoke filled the cabin of the Carpatair jet, with crew urging those on board to disembark immediately amid fears of a fire.
Four fire engines were dispatched to deal with the incident, which was initially blamed on a fault with the plane’s air conditioning system.
