A British Airways Embraer ERJ-190, registration G-LCYN performing flight BA-4454 from Rotterdam (Netherlands) to London City,EN (UK), was on final approach to City Airport’s runway 27 descending through 4000 feet about 15nm east of London City Airport when the crew declared emergency reporting the smell of smoke on board. The aircraft continued for a safe landing about 5 minutes later.
The airline confirmed a smell of smoke prompted the captain to declare emergency. No trace of smoke was found.
The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 2 hours after landing.
