A Germania Boeing 737-700, registration D-AGEL performing flight ST-3108 from Muenster (Germany) to Malaga,SP (Spain) with 118 passengers and 5 crew, had just levelled off at cruise level FL350 when the crew reported the smell of smoke in the cockpit and decided to return to Muenster. The aircraft landed safely on Muenster’s runway 07 about 28 minutes later.
A replacement Airbus A319-100 registration D-ASTU reached Malaga with a delay of 5.5 hours.
The airline stated the return was purely precautionary after the flight crew detected the smell of smoke on the flight deck.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Muenster about 8 hours after landing.
