“Lack of filters on air supplies on planes may be affecting half a million pilots and their 3.5 billion passengers a year, according to a piece of research published by Public Health Panorma.
The paper, “AEROTOXIC SYNDROME: A NEW OCCUPATIONAL DISEASE?” did two studies into the effects of contaminated “bleed air” and what it could be doing to crew after extended exposure.
Bleed air is compressed air fed to the cabin via the engine compressor. This air which runs through the jet turbines gets contaminated by a cocktail of to neurotoxic substances and to the thermally degraded or pyrolysed mixture. Essentially huffing jet fuel.”(source M2now) read more
