Inconvenient evidence of commercial jet flying on Sunday June 26 2022 @ Speaker’s Corner Hyde Park

For over six decades, there has been general awareness that flying in commercial jets may cause serious illness in some flyers, both passengers and aircrew ranging from acute, in-flight sickness to more chronic jet lag, even from a single flight.

Google:      XLA120 of 1st February 2007….

Many different toxic chemicals are found in airliner cabins which might account for illness and are conveyed by a design flaw of using unmonitored, unfiltered ‘Bleed air’ into jets.

‘Bleed air’ was first used in the 1950’s, where products of combustion mix with air in the engine, as the seals are designed to leak and then piped straight into the cabin, but over 10 years with no seal changes due to high costs, seal efficiency worsens significantly over time.

Toxic chemicals are added to jet engine oil and include organophosphates – a known nerve agent, as anti-wear additives which make jet engines last longer but have been blamed by some for over 20 years for both acute and chronic ill health in some flyers.

However more recently, Carbon Monoxide (CO) gas which cannot be smelt, seen or tasted has been identified as the most likely chemical of concern as a well understood deadly product of part combustion.

CO is a tiny molecule and can pass clean through most filters and that is why there is no point in manufacturers trying to filter bleed air.

Most public places have $15 CO monitors to warn of deadly low concentrations of 9 parts per million (9 ppm), yet no multi-million-dollar public transport jets have any CO sensors fitted, deliberately.

With the instant digital revolution now in full swing, it is only a matter of time before the flying public monitor CO in their own environment and take steps to limit their personal exposure on any flight or confined space situation, however drastic…

No one can unknow – once one knows & finally, Boeing 787 Dreamliner (2009) does NOT use Bleed air nor needs CO sensors!!

PTO for some XLA 120 evidence…

3 May 2010
The Stewarts Law Attorney Group represents 20 British passengers who were seriously injured by aircraft toxic fumes exposure on 1 February 2007. The incident occurred when they were flying onboard an XL Airways Boeing 767 from London Gatwick to Sanford International, Florida.
The dangerous toxins were released into the cabin through the bleed air system which (as on most airliners) draws high-pressure air from the core of the engines to pressurise the aircraft with breathable air. It has long been known that this design can result in the cabin air becoming contaminated with toxic oil vapour when the engine oil seals leak.
Passengers detected the toxic air as they began to notice an odd smell similar to ‘smelly socks’. The cabin seemed more ‘stuffy’ and ‘hot’ than any previous flight they had been on, and the air severely irritated their eyes, nose and throat. The passengers quickly became ill, suffering respiratory issues, severe headaches, vomiting, bowel problems, skin blistering and extreme fatigue. The toxic air also caused them to experience long term / chronic effects such as respiratory problems, memory loss, sleep disturbances, chronic fatigue, mood swings, cognitive difficulties, infections, and joint/limb pains.
To put pressure on the US manufacturers to deal with these known cabin air problems and to obtain fair compensation for the passengers, on 29 January 2009 specialist litigation firm Stewart’s Law filed the case in Illinois, the state where Boeing has its Headquarters. In addition to ‘Boeing’, the lawsuit was filed against ‘Hamilton Sundstrand’ (manufacturers of air systems components), ‘United Technologies’ (manufacturers of the Pratt & Whitney engines) and the owners of the aircraft – ‘AAR Parts Trading Inc’.

This case is an outright US product liability case against US defendants. However, the defendants were intent on having the case sent back to the UK courts (which are much more expensive for claimants and award much lower compensation). They filed a forum non-conveniens motion, arguing that the UK is the most convenient place for the litigation.
After the prolonged legal battle, on 3 May 2010 Judge Quinn decided in favour of the passengers and dismissed the defendants’ forum non-conveniens motion. Stewart’s Law has achieved a great victory for the passengers. Securing US jurisdiction along with the prospect of a high profile jury trial is a wake up call for US manufacturers – unless they take measures to improve the quality of cabin air now, they will face the credible prospect of expensive and public US litigation for future incidents where there is an identifiable toxic fumes leak that causes injury.

How to absolutely prove a media cover-up…..24 June 2022

Dear Editor of i newspaper (Oliver Duff),                            23 June 2022

This letter is not intended for the ‘Your View’ letters’ page but I hope you will give it your attention as it highlights a significant public health concern which for many years seems to have been kept under wraps by media outlets.

I appreciate that newspaper editorial teams have many competing stories to choose from, which vie for headline space & inside pages & that there are always national & international events, often tragic, which will take precedence over less well known issues.

I am a long time, regular reader of the i paper, not quite from its inception, but certainly from its early days. I choose to read it because it gives a much more balanced & disinterested viewpoint than many papers that are allied to particular political parties & so toe the party line.

My concern as you could see from the subject matter of this email is aerotoxic poisoning.

Aerotoxic poisoning occurs in all Jet planes with the exception of the Boeing 787..Dreamliner…the only plane which has been re-designed not to introduce air into the plane through the fuel pipes. In all other planes this air continues to be brought in through the fuel pipes & is  I understand,  known as  ‘bleed’ air. This to a greater or lesser degree, because of the toxins it carries with it, can have serious effects on the health of cockpit & cabin crew & passengers ( not just in a fume event) leaving many seriously debilitated, over a number of years or even permanently & in other cases has proven to be fatal.

I find it hugely frustrating that the problems caused by aerotoxic poisoning do not seem to be given newspaper coverage when in many instances the outcome for those made desperately unwell is indeed tragic for them & their families.

You can find a very detailed article which appeared in The Guardian on  Sat Aug 9th 2017 written by Kate Leahy…former cabin crew.

www.theguardian.com/science/2017/19/sick-crew-toxic-air-planes-frequent-flyers-ill

It has been found that illness can occur in some people after only 1 flight, so it is not just a problem for those who fly frequently.

Since then it would appear that the media outlets have failed to attach any importance or credence to the issue but you will see in the attached information about the Cabin Air Safety Act of 2022 currently being dealt with in  the USA. that this is about to change.

Since becoming very ill over a number of years culminating in 2005 (when he had to give up his career prematurely) Captain John Hoyte ( a good friend) has made it his mission to bring this public health issue to the powers that be but has been continually frustrated & sidelined by lack of interest or a distinct unwillingness to engage in discussion with those like himself who have been so badly affected by this poisoning & who have evidence of its drastic consequences & the reasons for it …but also significantly have solutions as to how it can be ameliorated &  avoided.

Is this lack of willingness on the part of the media to investigate the issue a result of editorial choices or a directive from above editorial level not to publish information about aerotoxic poisoning because of possible backlash from the air industry?

‘A small favour….’ BBC Today.

Dear family, friend or colleague,                                      ‘A small favour….’

We’ve had the breakthrough that I’ve hoped for today with a planned 1:1 meeting with my new Member of Parliament Right Honourable Philip Dunne next Thursday 30 June 2022 – to introduce Aerotoxic and that it would now appear that Carbon Monoxide (CO) gas which is odourless, invisible, tasteless and deadly even in small concentrations is the chemical of concern, which will be publicised fully in the USA in July 2022.

As you might not be aware, the BBC has not covered Toxic Cabin Air for 849 days and as a matter of public health & interest maybe should be openly debated, as with other medical illnesses?

Here’s some past BBC ‘A word’ work:

21 April 2008: BBC Panorama https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dsDznr4z5w

24 September 2009: BBC Today  http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_8270000/8270978.stm

25 February 2020: BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-51633897

We would be very grateful, if the very brave ones amongst you, would consider writing a brief e mail to BBC Radio 4 Today programme as soon as possible to: today@bbc.co.uk and invite, as a matter of public interest a new, balanced BBC report on this new USA evidence, which is still claimed to be misunderstood by some. ‘A Group’ Abstract attached published 18 June 2022.

If you dare, please ask BBC Today for a reply and I would love to hear back from you..

After reflection, I’ve decided not to pay Martine Croxall BBC journalist £1500 for 2 hours work next week, after Martine interviewed me for free & live in February 2015: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGVL1N4LZYM as there’s nothing new to mention, apart from the new USA CO perspective, which is in the legislation of 29 March 2022: https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/7267/text

Forgive all of the links, there’s more evidence at www.aerotoxic.org

Many thanks and please don’t forget, as BBC licence fee payers and decent people, to be polite….

Waving or Drowning – Help with BBC Today….

Since embarking on helping & supporting other members of the public who have AEROTOXIC SYNDROME in June 2007, the media blackout has proved financially ruinous as no evidence appears to be allowed to be shared with the flying public.

But now we have some hot new evidence from the USA which is already available as an ABSTRACT and was first published on 18 June 2022 @ 1100 UTC:

DANGER IN THE AIR

18 June 2022

When flying as a passenger in a commercial jet aircraft is there any danger in breathing in the air?  Although you will be told aircraft air is pretty clean – cleaner than the air in your home and office, is this always true?

Except for the Boeing B.787 Dreamliner, commercial aircraft pump all the air we breathe from a place deep inside each jet engine, only separated from hot jet engine oil by seals that get worn and should be replaced at regular intervals but owing to the cost of doing so these intervals in maintenance have tended to become longer and longer.    When these seals become worn, toxic contaminant particles and gas can now get from the oil into the aircraft air in increasing number.  The poisonous gas carbon monoxide, certain other potentially toxic compounds including organophosphates in small amounts, and finally ultrafine particles are found in aircraft air – unfortunately, none of these are large enough to be stopped by filters. The airline industry appears not to have investigated these issues nor has it provided reliable evidence.  The poisonous items in the aircraft air vary in concentration according to how worn the sealing systems have become.  On occasion, so many contaminants enter the air, a ‘fume event’ occurs – here the air may have started to smell and can become visibly hazy. The only way to find out the true state of aircraft air is to fit equipment that can continuously monitor and record the presence of these toxic items in real time.  This is urgent, as a growing number of people (passengers, flight attendants and pilots) have been and are getting ill.  They present with a number of unusual but distressingly persistent complaints that affect many parts of their body in particular the brain and nervous system.  Many affected staff have been told officially they must be imagining this.  Meanwhile in 1999, this group of illnesses was published as Aerotoxic Syndrome.

In order to alleviate this state of affairs, medical protocols designed by experts should be in place, and equipment such as oxygen and other remedies should be provided to sufferers both in the aircraft and when they land.  Those patients who have suffered should not be discounted.  They should be offered what medical support there is both for them and their families.  Meanwhile the design fault that allows incoming air anywhere near hot jet engine oil needs to be re-designed in all aircraft jet engines in the future.

Captain John Hoyte, Chairman Aerotoxic Association The Charity (2007) Former BAe 146 Training Captain john.hoyte@aerotoxic.org  & Captain John Lind former US Aviation insurer assessor & A Group spokesman & Advocate crewadvoc8@yahoo.com

But now we are appealing to the BBC Today program to review this public health issue which won’t go away and here’s the BBC evidence from the past 14 years:

21 April 2008: BBC Panorama https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dsDznr4z5w

24 September 2009: BBC Today  http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_8270000/8270978.stm

25 February 2020: BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-51633897

The last report was 848 days ago…surely time to update the public, again?

We are Waving for help as no one wants to drown!! By writing a quick message to today@bbc.co.uk asking to review this public health matter, which won’t go away, you would be helping ALL FLYERS – so thank you very much in anticipation!!

Donations are also most welcome!!

$pent out, but unbowed – London Saturday June 18 2022 @ 1200 BST

After 15 years of trying to persuade over-funded government scientists and lawyers with overwhelming evidence of a still, little known cause of mass public ill-health we now prepare to mark 15 years of work on Saturday 18 June 2022 @ 1200 BST at the Houses of Parliament, London by publishing a new USA theory – Abstract of Aerotoxic Syndrome 2022 which was first published in 1999, but without any funds to do either future research or the solutions – in the public interest?

How can an airline training captain lose wife, house, car, and most possessions over 15 years and be reduced to investing over £300,000 and be reduced to minus £425.08 in my bank, with a £15 K overdraft, all funded by my old age pension?

By never signing a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA), which many aerotoxic injured aircrew normally do to 50/50 fund their future lives with amoral so-called ‘lawyers’.

Whilst many professional aircrews are reduced to poverty as their faith in ultimate justice, public health, and public interest never fails.

Our UK/USA ‘A Group’ splinter group of 18 months has reasoned that it is the deadly gas Carbon Monoxide (CO), a tiny molecule that is odorless (can’t smell it) invisible (can’t see it), and passes through most filters and is dangerous at anything above 9 parts per million.

And the giveaway is that there are NO $15 CO sensors or loggers in ANY multi-million-dollar public transport bleed air jets – which have generated unknown concentrations of CO, by design, since the 1950s.

Most other public confined spaces have CO sensors mandated to protect the public.

Maybe the key question: Why don’t ‘they’ believe anything professional aircrew report or do?

To prove that our theory is correct in the law requires private funding as governments prefer to fund the cover-up and most aircrew and scientists who know the truth are after 15 long years financially smashed and ruined.

But there is clean, honest money to be made from investing in future available, known solutions…

Your understanding of our now urgent request is appreciated to help fund our work in the week beginning Sunday 19 June 2022…

Thank you for your kind understanding and generosity of our work.

Aerotoxicgate – free speech or systemic cover-up?

As a result of over 15 years of international research, a group of Aerotoxic Syndrome (AS) (1999) experts are about to publish a new US theory behind toxic poisoning in jet aircraft and a cause of mass public ill health, which may be in the public interest. A DRAFT Abstract from UK/US ‘A Group’ using evidence from the 1950’s, is included in this media release which will be published at 1100 UTC on 18 June 2022 and then fully published in July 2022 after an expert ‘Peer review’ process.

The Aerotoxic Association Ltd. (2007) (www.aerotoxic.org) was founded by Captain John Hoyte (JH) on 19 March 2007 and launched publicly at the Houses of Parliament, London on 18 June 2007:

John Hoyte (LHS) & aircrew including Capt. Tristan Loraine, Dr Susan Michaelis, Capt. Julian Soddy of Balpa and Flight XLA 120 passenger on 18 June 2007 at Portcullis House, Houses of Parliament, London.

Any person wishing to understand the background to Aerotoxic Syndrome should watch this brief and balanced 15 mins Australian 60 Minutes ABC documentary report (2013):

Toxic Flyer – 60 Minutes Australia

Memorandum of Association

The following legal Memorandum of Association  was declared in 2007.

Aerotoxic Association Ltd’s objects (the Objects) are:-

  1. To earn recognition of a condition that affects pilots, cabin crew, and passengers who have been exposed to toxins found in pressurised cabin air, which originates from jet engine oil (Organic phosphate poisoning) dispersed through the air filter system of the aircraft;
  2. To establish a generic term as “Aerotoxic Syndrome”;
  3. To advance the education of the public and promote awareness of Aerotoxic Syndrome;
  4. The relief of sufferers of Aerotoxic Syndrome and their families by the provision of such advice, information and support as would relieve their need;
  5. To promote research into the causes, prevention, treatment and cure of Aerotoxic Syndrome and the dissemination of the knowledge thereby acquired; and
  6. To provide a forum for fellow sufferers to exchange information in an effort to improve individuals health.

One of the main challenges of running an organisation where the title ‘A word’ appears to have been banned by governments and some so-called media has meant that it has been impossible to raise public awareness or engage with other members of the public who have the same values to further the published solutions and interests and help support the flying public, especially those who are vulnerable, like the elderly, mothers to be and children.

Coverage by the BBC

BBC Panorama have previously covered the public interest health issue in ‘Something in the air’ on 21 April 2008 and BBC Radio 4 Today later covered the public health issue again in ‘Can planes be poisonous?’ on 24 September 2009.

The BBC last report of 25 February 2020: ‘Fume events: The toxic gases that may be harming aircrew and passengers’:

“After years of gathering evidence, 10 lead cases against four UK airlines are due at the Royal Courts of Justice this year. Unite, the union behind the action, says it wants the public to know about the aviation industry’s biggest secret. “An extraordinary amount of powerful evidence has been gathered,” says General Secretary Howard Beckett.

“The simple reality for us is that our members are at risk from low-level exposure and it is a simple reality that frequent fliers will also be at risk as a result,” he told me.”

There are now over 260 individual Unite the Union UK aerotoxic legal cases still awaiting judgement nearly three years later.

Debates in Parliament

UK Prime Minister critic, pilot, The Right Honourable Tobias Ellwood MP debated Aerotoxic Syndrome on 1st July 2009 with the late John Maples MP, who was John Hoyte’s public representative, but since that date there appears to have been a deafening silence apart from another Parliamentary debate on 17th March 2016 and more and more overwhelming, new peer reviewed published science, successful international legal High public court wins (2010), 15 annual Cabin Air conferences since 2005 and rare media updates – all to be advised that there is still allegedly – ‘No positive evidence’.

Nothing. Words have lost their meanings, as so-called ‘lawyers’ supposedly representing sick clients ‘work’ for money only and appear to be bankrolling fraudulent science by dealing in questionable Non Disclosure Agreements (NDA’s), which might not be in the wider public’s best interest, as continued failure to recognise a cause of public disease and illness is stopping dead the known and available solutions from being implemented – for all.

Michael Rawlinson QC is a master of AS and stated in public at the annual 2017 Cabin Air Conference that “Aerotoxicity is at its tipping point….”

JH’s previous Labour & Unite MP Clive Lewis of Norwich South has failed to answer any formal correspondence since 2015 after coming to power leading to JH returning to live in Shropshire in 2021 and 2022 where a free media press (including BBC Radio Shropshire) still thankfully exists plus a ‘Can Do’ people friendly, business-like atmosphere attitude has always existed after personally experiencing the same whilst agricultural flying from 1982-1987.

Incidents & Events

A visible ‘oil fume event’ on 5 August 2019 – measured concentrations of toxic chemicals have been repeatedly measured by government research, but has still never yet been published… https://avherald.com/h?article=4cb3a0d2&opt=0

Public tobacco smoking, until around 1990 in commercial jets, would have been past justification for not fitting CO sensors due to secondary smoke as sensors would have been permanently ‘ON’ but for aircrews’ noses and eyes to have been used since, for the past 30 years and by not believing any professional aircrews and passengers’ testimonies is perhaps the ultimate cover-up of raw data evidence and is why a systematic cover-up is now likely.

Organophosphates

Organophosphates (OPs) – well understood nerve agents sine the 19th century – which are added to jet engine oil at 3-5% as an anti-wear additive have been blamed by some AS experts for decades for the cause of acute and chronic illness which was first published as Aerotoxic Syndrome on 20 October 1999 by a US Doctor, a French forensic scientist and Australian toxicologist and then more basically as Aerotoxic Poisoning by the UK government on 3 June 2019.

But in recent years, expert US researchers have logically focussed on Carbon Monoxide (CO) which is an invisible (can not see it), odourless (can not smell it) and tasteless (can not taste it) gas and harmful in very small doses (10 parts per million) as the more likely cause of both serious acute and chronic ill health, which can be compared to the well-known symptoms since the 1950’s of ‘Jet Lag’ of nausea, vomiting and headaches.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) Monitors

The compelling evidence being that despite repeated international calls for CO monitors and loggers, they are not yet used in public transport jets, because this evidence would be used in public courts – as reported by The Los Angeles Times in 2020 & 2022:

https://www.latimes.com/projects/toxic-chemicals-planes-covid-19-travel-
woes/?fbclid=IwAR1twfsM0hCKmIWvlUu3xgp6tXG7cb7YqBHiSA66lmlHDUrxinRNVB6
GUf8

& 2022:
https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-03-31/congress-curb-toxic-fumes-seeping-
airplane-cabins

Long term, chronic ill health of brain damage and premature death is consistent with repeated CO exposure, which can and does affect all organs of human bodies.

However, despite cheap $15 CO sensors being generally available now to the public and airlines and being mandatory in most public places, their absence by State choice in multi-million-dollar jets may now be viewed as a deliberate attempt to pervert the course of justice by actively withholding evidence from Parliament, Congress, Police and the public courts of law as aircrew and passenger reporters are prohibited from reporting any inconvenient evidence, until now.

CO Sensors on Mobile Phones

As cheap CO sensors are now readily available to the flying public in mobile/call phones, it is now only a matter of time before flying customers complain of high levels (10 + ppm) of CO on flights from a known fundamental design flaw, where there is no escape, leaving governments and airlines vulnerable to lawsuits with airline grounding compensation, whilst they struggle to stop the public from demanding the well-known and available solutions.

Covid wrecked the world in 2020, but COaerotoxic could finish jet flying off in 2022.

Perhaps the easiest, most practical solution would be to provide ‘enough therapeutic OXYGEN or O2’ at Emergency Rooms in ‘all jet airports’ to those who have been gassed and poisoned by commercial public transport jet aircraft in an effort to reduce the worst, deleterious medical effects of Aerotoxic Syndrome (1999). And for a new, urgently agreed medical protocol to replace the 2009 FAA funded Protocol, which has been mostly ignored by certain parties and should be available to all medical staff to limit further public harm.

Statement of Truth – 30 May 2022

 To whom it may concern.

It has been long accepted and admitted that compressed air from jet engines has been contaminated with engine oil which contains many harmful chemicals including VOC’s and Organophosphate substances which are universally accepted to be harmful to health with well-known symptoms.

The UK Government has been aware and discussing the problem for a number of years whilst the vast majority of the public and medical profession remain completely unaware of scale and extent of the problem.

As a result of 27 pilots’ blood and fat being tested in March – May of 2006 with associated memory and cognitive function tests carried out at the same time by UCL (University College London) it has revealed shocking and incontrovertible evidence that there is a serious health hazard for anybody who flies in these aeroplanes; especially the crews and is therefore a serious flight safety issue. The report will be available from May 22nd 2006, but may be restricted in its distribution for obvious reasons.

Other people that have also been at risk are the entire Royal family and senior members of the Government who have flown on the BAe 146 for the last twenty years and cannot have escaped the same contamination.

The BAe 146 and Boeing 757 are well known for being the worst offenders of commercial airliners, possibly due to sharing a similar make of APU or Auxiliary Power Unit and its use on the ground.

There have been many incidents and fatal accidents attributed to ‘fatigue’ and ‘pilot error’ on the BAe 146 and B. 757 over the years but never any suggestion that contaminated air is fundamentally to blame.

I wish to make it clear that due to intense covering up of the phenomenon over the past ten years or more it is now my duty to point out that any accident in the future should be regarded as probably being caused by this effect and for any suggestion that it is not a factor to be subject of a criminal enquiry and manslaughter charges for those people denying the link.

So, an e mail was sent to Chris King of BBC Radio Shropshire on 17th May 2022 @ 1345 who is a full time BBC staff member, which was acknowledged by phone to have been received afterwards by another BBC staff member:

Dear Chris,

I’ve been kindly given your name as a senior news desk editor as I live in Bridgnorth.

Yesterday, the Shropshire Star published the following news story about my links with Aerotoxic Syndrome: https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/local-hubs/bridgnorth/2022/05/13/pilot-welcomes-breakthrough-in-fight-against-aerotoxic-syndrome/ and in July 2021 the SS published this report as I hoped to live in Shropshire but I have now settled down again: https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/local-hubs/oswestry/2021/07/01/pilot-fights-for-aerotoxic-syndrome-to-be-officially-recognised/

I would welcome the opportunity to share with BBC radio Shropshire my experiences of what I know will soon be widely published in the USA, especially as our ‘A Group’ appear to have made a Darwin like discovery, which others have missed plus a relatively easy solution with my 16th anniversary of discovery of toxic cabin air will be on 22 May 2022.  See attached ‘A Group’ letter to President Biden of 4 April 2022.

As I few happily for 5 years in Shropshire in the 1980’s I also have some rare flying stories, photos & films including my first serious accident, which happened at Glazeley on 1 June 1982.

I was first contacted by BBC radio Shropshire both in February and March 2022, but I think the time is right now to share my public interest evidence with a BBC senior journalist as there is a back story to the Star report and I would be grateful of some professional help with how to handle it, due to its serious potential.

Many thanks,

Kindest regards,

John Hoyte

In addition, I have been working with Hadleigh Works of Oswestry https://hadleighworks.com/  who helped with a media release which after 6 weeks finally resulted in this Shropshire Star article of 15 May 2022:

https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/local-hubs/bridgnorth/2022/05/13/pilot-welcomes-breakthrough-in-fight-against-aerotoxic-syndrome/

…………………………………………………………………………………………………

In early March 2022 due to my former MP Clive Lewis of Norwich South not answering any formal correspondence since 2105 and my local EDP newspaper after refusing to cover any news evidence of Aerotoxic Syndrome (AS) and my mother HM Hoyte MBE not being supportive of public exposure – I relocated back to Shropshire, where I lived and flew from 1982-1987.

I was impressed by the offer of BBC Radio Shropshire unsolicited e mail request of 9th February 2022 – see above and another e mail after moving as I am still trying to establish both of my companies to help the public as soon as possible but I still have an overdraft, no house, no car and my few remaining possessions are in storage as I wait for public awareness and then help with public funding for public research work, whilst living with an undiagnosed health disability by the NHS since 1990.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………

In early March 2022 I attended the Unitarian Church of Shrewsbury and met some like-minded locals who have similar values of social justice and an interest in science and was inspired by Charles Darwin who had attended the church as I and my colleagues have possibly discovered a similar breakthrough in science, particularly in the past 6 months.

I met a church official after I had filled in a church registration form and as I was living in a relatively expensive Airbnb in Shrewsbury at the time I asked if I could stay with her as a ‘Norfolk Refugee’ and she kindly agreed.

I explained my work, and health situation fully and have since discovered the following:

  1. Many of her friends and colleagues are now aware of my work and my 2014 published AS book. Aerotoxic Syndrome – Aviation’s Darkest Secret.
  2. Has two local friends who had prior personal knowledge of experiencing ‘Aerotoxic Syndrome’ as passengers one who already knew about the disease, and one did not.
  3. Has 50 year old friends who flew for BA and have experienced ill health symptoms which may have been caused, as with others, from their flying and will be met first on 30 May 2022 @ 1030.

I am concerned about meeting new friends, as I am worried about what they may tell me of their ‘mysterious’ ill health symptoms which occurred whilst flying, as I’ve been hearing similar evidence for the past 16 years from countless other aircrew and passengers as in my Statement of 22 May 2006. Suitable medical tests, such as ‘Blood & fat tests’ which were available in 2006 and would now confirm positive exposure to toxic chemicals.

I have been indebted especially to the Unitarian Church of Shrewsbury for their kind and generous welcome and many members of the congregation now know about AS from two Shropshire Star articles of 2021 and 2022 and my part. A 2017 Shropshire Star aerotoxic article has not yet been shared.

However due to a relatively slow understanding I am still looking for awareness in other ‘Awake’ group members of the public who might actively support balanced media coverage in the public interest and presentation of evidence to a public court, as few lawyers are aware or available.

Thompson solicitors who have been representing over 260 Unite aerotoxic claimants for around five years but are only available to Union members with AS legal expert Michael Rawlinson QC representing some claimants:  https://www.kingschambers.com/all-silks/michael-rawlinson-qc/

1 June 2022 will be the 40th anniversary of my first serious flying crash at Glazeley, Shropshire and I have given my ‘story’ to journalist Toby Neal of the Shropshire Star as a matter of public interest, and I plan to visit the crash site on 31st May 2022 with a former Shropshire farmer friend and former Chair of Shropshire Aero Club at Sleap when I flew in the county in the 1980’s.

Toby Neal previously wrote about my Flight Attendant colleague Angel Brain’s story on Aerotoxic Syndrome on 29 May 2017: https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/health/2017/05/29/grounded-angel-says-flying-wrecked-her-health/

As the launch of the Aerotoxic Association Ltd. The Charity was on 18 June 2007 at the House of Parliament, London – I will be sending out invitations soon to the survivors to mark this 15th anniversary.

I have engaged BBC journalist Maxine Croxall (MC) for a quoted fee of £1500 for two hours work https://www.specialistspeakers.com/?p=8774  to cover this anniversary date after MC interviewed me live on BBC News on 22 February 2015 for 2 ½ minutes and I was instructed by the BBC to not mention 1) My airlines (TNT & Flybe) and 2) The words ‘Cover-up’.

I have led a UK/US A Group comprising around 10 other international AS experts for the past 15 months on every Friday afternoon (Sanity Friday) a Zoom meeting which includes our group spokesman former aviation insurance assessor expert Captain John Lind of the US – father of an AS harmed Flight Attendant since 2011; a former medical practitioner whose life has been indirectly affected by AS; Professor Jeremy Ramsden, an AS expert; Graeme Davidson a noted AS engineer; a former GPO sub postmaster and Chartered Accountant; a Canadian clean air filtration solution expert; several other affected US/UK aircrew.

We have as A Group, discovered a new perspective of AS – Carbon Monoxide which is cited in all previous published toxic cabin air evidence since the 1950’s and we will be publishing our logic in the next few weeks in the US & UK.

Here is a DRAFT abstract which has been written by a former medical practitioner which will be circulated in advance of the main paper and then formally first published on 18 June 2022:

DANGER IN THE AIR

30 May 2022

When flying as a passenger in a commercial aircraft is there any danger in breathing in the air?  Although you will be told aircraft air is pretty clean – cleaner than the air in your home and office, is this always true?

Except for the Boeing B787 Dreamliner, commercial aircraft pump all the air we breathe from a place deep inside each jet engine, only separated from hot jet engine oil by a spinning seal that gets worn and should be replaced at regular intervals but owing to the cost of doing so these intervals in maintenance have tended to become longer and longer.    When these seals become worn, toxic contaminant particles and gas can now get from the oil into the aircraft air in increasing number.  The poisonous gas carbon monoxide and a whole host of organophosphates (nerve agents) and finally ultrafine particles are found in aircraft air – unfortunately, none of these are large enough to be stopped by filters.

12 months ago, I was living in Oxford trying to get Oxford University interested in researching AS with Dr Sergei Gutnikov https://www.ndcn.ox.ac.uk/team/sergei-gutnikov with whom I stayed for several weeks leading up to 18 June 2021.

After delivering by hand three new pieces of evidence to BBC Oxford in the weeks leading up to the 14th anniversary, no interest resulted – despite the BBC reporting previous programmes to their licence fee payers – on 21 April 2008 – Panorama ‘Something in the air’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dsDznr4z5w and 24 September 2009 after I requested journalist Angus Stickler review the available evidence for BBC Radio 4 Today ‘Are planes poisonous?’: http://news.bbc.co.uk/today/hi/today/newsid_8270000/8270978.stm  and ‘Fume events: The toxic gases that may be harming aircrew and passengers’ on 25 February 2020: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-51633897

The 2009 BBC Today programme caused an Oxfordshire based BA former cabin crew and pilot to contact me and I’m still in touch with this broken up family and hold the BBC responsible.

On 18th June 2021, because the BBC had ignored all offers of new evidence, in our frustration I explained to another colleague of Oxford who is an aerotoxic passenger survivor from the 1990’s that I was going ‘to act’ at 2300.

I have been in touch several times with The Thames Valley Police since the premature death of Dr JC Balouet on 31st March 2021 and made a formal Statement at the time and had a crime number of 9th April 2021: IMC 2021 0409/1038 and was interviewed by Detective Inspector Chris Whitwell at Banbury Police station with no follow up.

Latterly, PC 3281 Andrew Capper of Thames Valley Police sent an unfinished text message on 9 May 2022 possibly in connection with the 950 premature UK aircrew deaths in the past 10 years and that one million flyers have AS in Europe alone, according to a 2016 published Dutch survey where possible fraud, and a systematic, criminal cover-up has been often suggested by others around the world as the ‘Asbestos of the skies’ where money appears to be able to ‘buy science’.

On 29 March 2022 H.R.7267 – Cabin Air Safety Act of 2022 was published:

https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/7267/text

…………………………………………………………………………………………………..

The Right honourable Tobias Ellwood MP debated Aerotoxic Syndrome on 1st July 2009 with the late John Maples MP, who was John Hoyte’s public representative and other MP’s, but since that date there appears to have been a deafening silence apart from overwhelming new peer reviewed published science, successful international legal cases, 15 annual Cabin Air conferences and rare media updates – all to be advised that there is still allegedly ‘No positive evidence’.

I am content for the BBC or any other UK media or US media to cover a balanced story of the 15th Anniversary of AeA and any other public interest new peer reviewed, published evidence of aerotoxic syndrome at www.aerotoxic.org as I believe this H&S issue would be of public interest for anyone who flies in public transport jets.

If no further contact results from the BBC leading up to 2300 on 18 June 2022 – I will consider taking further action to allow the UK public knowledge of AS, which I believe to be of public interest.

I suggest anyone wanting further information about AS positive evidence should contact Neuropsychologist Professor/Doctor Sarah Mackenzie Ross of UCL who has been working on the issue for the past 20 years. https://www.sarahmackenzieross.com/

I believe that the facts stated in this witness statement are true. I understand that proceedings for contempt of court may be brought against anyone who makes, or causes to be made, a false statement in a document verified by a statement of truth without an honest belief in its truth.

22 May 2022 – 16th Anniversay of Aerotoxic Statement

22 May 2022 marks the 16th Anniversary of my formal Statement in 2006, unabridged as follows:

To whom it may concern.
It has been long accepted and admitted that compressed air from jet engines has
been contaminated with engine oil which contains many harmful chemicals
including VOC’s and Organo phosphate substances which are universally
accepted to be harmful to health with well known symptoms.
The UK Government has been aware and discussing the problem for a number
of years whilst the vast majority of the public and medical profession remain
completely unaware of scale and extent of the problem.
As a result of 27 pilots blood and fat being tested in March – May of 2006 with
associated memory and cognitive function tests carried out at the same time by
UCL (University College London) it has revealed shocking and incontrovertible
evidence that there is a serious health hazard for anybody who flies in these
aeroplanes; especially the crews and is therefore a serious flight safety issue. The
report will be available from May 22nd 2006 but may be restricted in its
distribution for obvious reasons.
Other people known to be probably effected are the entire Royal family and
senior members of the Government who have flown on the BAe 146 for the last
twenty years and can not have escaped the same contamination.
The BAe 146 and Boeing 757 are well known for being the worst offenders of
commercial airliners, possibly due to sharing a similar make of APU or
Auxiliary Power Unit and its use on the ground.
There have been many incidents and fatal accidents attributed to ‘fatigue’ and
‘pilot error’ on the BAe 146 and B. 757 over the years but never any suggestion
that contaminated air is fundamentally to blame.
I wish to make it clear that due to intense covering up of the phenomenon over
the past ten years or more it is now my duty to point out that any accident in the
future should be regarded as probably being caused by this effect and for any
suggestion that it is not a factor to be subject of a criminal enquiry and
manslaughter charges for those people denying the link.

NB. No mention of Aerotoxic Syndrome, which was first published in 1999 and I would be first told about in June 2006.

With the 15th Anniversary of the launch at the House of Parliament, London of Aerotoxic Association on 18 June 2022 – it would b greatly appreciated if any BBC watchers could call BBC Radio Shropshire on 01743 248848 to find out more about a matter of public interest: https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/local-hubs/bridgnorth/2022/05/13/pilot-welcomes-breakthrough-in-fight-against-aerotoxic-syndrome/
