Many aircrew and passengers have read and already learnt about an inconvenient cause of mass public ill health from my 2014 book ‘Aerotoxic Syndrome – Aviation’s Darkest Secret’ and now I have a ‘Moral Responsibility & Duty’ according to serial publisher Canadian Gerry Robert – to update this sorry story after six more years of lies.

Writing has begun and the book should be ready to read by the end of April 2020…

It was on 24 June 2007 that Private Eye & The Daily Telegraph UK journalist Christopher Booker first bravely exposed Aerotoxic Syndrome and concluded his article by demanding: “It is high time this particular cover-up was blown wide open”.

So now is time to update the long suffering public about a known cause of hidden illness that can or could happen to Any one, on Any plane, at Any time as the cause is a fundamental design flaw of most jets, with the specifically designed exception of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The design flaw was formally recognised in 1999 – coincidentally and unsurprisingly in the same year that Aerotoxic Syndrome was first proposed by a US doctor and scientists from France & Australia; after a decade of their own research.

It is predicted that the PASSENGERS, around 1 million of frequent flyers unknowingly have aerotoxic syndrome in Europe alone, will eventually persuade the plane manufacturers to fit the known and now available solutions – as even First Class passengers currently mistake their debilitating, mysterious neurological symptoms for so-called ‘Jet-lag’.

Whilst the tiny percentage of professional aircrew are viewed as inconvenient collateral damage. $£€

As a pilot with a 40 year long colourful career who survived to tell this tale, I have over the past 14 years become a reluctant Subject-Matter Expert, consultant and speaker on Aerotoxic Syndrome. An issue of genuine interest to those who fly, get sick from oil fume exposures, but are mostly grossly misdiagnosed/mistreated.

The costs are chilling, but the human misery – especially that of the children who rely on adults (Watch this 2008 BBC Panorama) for help is beyond comprehension. Cynical vested interests continue to claim that ‘Health is paramount’ and that there is ‘No positive evidence’ of chronic ill health, whilst a mass of positive evidence of acute ill health since the 1950’s exists, when evidence of serious human illness was first published, before I was even born.

So now outside help is respectfully requested for the publication of this updated, shorter, stronger book which will have diagrams to illustrate the scandal and describe the ‘systems failures’ that many chose never to fully expose but will be described in this new publication.

However, closure has previously been successful. In 2003 The Boston Globe received a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service. The newspaper was honoured, according to the Pulitzer website, “for its courageous, comprehensive coverage….an effort that pierced secrecy, stirred local, national and international reaction and produced changes in the Roman Catholic Church”.

Whilst public justice was seen to be done on 3rd September 2010, 18 years after a regular ‘Oil fume event’ in a BAe 146 in an Australian High Court WIN for one chronically sick crew & passenger claimant, Joanne Turner V’s East West Airlines finally proved how public justice must eventually prevail – for all.
